Artist Statement

I enjoy the rich and unique painting opportunities for painting in the Eastern Shore area. These include our rural countryside, beautiful waterways, and historic small towns carefully preserved in Talbot County, recognized by artists as the treasure they are. There are also many outstanding workshops available here. The many excellent artists in Talbot County create a wonderful opportunity to collaborate both individually and through art organizations. I love painting in plein air, in my studio, doing commissions, and I love teaching at the Talbot County Senior Center. Life is good in Talbot County!

Artist Biography

I graduated from Hood College with honors in art, continued at Maryland Institute College of Art, then earned a Masters Degree in Liberal Arts from Johns Hopkins. I taught art in Baltimore County for eight years including five as department chairman. After raising two children I became Director of Financial Aid at Goucher College, moved from Goucher to Johns Hopkins in Student Financial Services, then moved to Union Memorial Hospital as Director of Volunteer Services. In 1999 I moved to Easton with my husband, joined art organizations and many painting workshops. Art organizations are the Working Artists Forum, St. Michaels Art League, the Friday Morning Artists, and Plein Air Painters of the Eastern Shore. I served as president of Talbot County Arts Council from 2010 to 2014. I continue to paint and also teach beginning oil painting at the Talbot Senior Center.
