An artist since childhood, I studied drawing, traditional stone and wood carving, and oil painting while living and managing a career as a health care professional in New York City. My painting style evolved after experimenting with collage, first with different types of paper, and then fabrics, in combination with oils. My goal is to create harmonious, flowing abstracts, with textures and shapes that remind us of the complexities of nature. I will often use reflective surfaces to create a vibrancy in my paintings and to give the viewer different patterns depending on available light. My scientific training has taught me to consider each new piece as an experiment in creating balance and harmony within the confines of a blank canvas. I retired to a rich art environment on Maryland’s beautiful Eastern Shore, and have been further inspired by the surrounding water, fields and skies.
