Artist Statement

Refining skill and identifying a vision for that skill is part of artistic development. Through studio studies with master artists, I’ve honed figure and portrait work to some commendation. I’ve been privileged to work at the National Gallery of Art as part of their Copyist Program. This is part of the long tradition of learning from exposure to masterpieces. I’ve become increasingly drawn to the human element and themes and as I continue as an artist I hope to create expressive work that moves beyond capturing a likeness to telling a story that has universal appeal.
